Altus AFB 730th AMTS Art.

The 730th Air Mobility Training Squadron traces its origins to 1943, when it was activated as a B‑17 bombardment unit in the Eighth Air Force and earned a Distinguished Unit Citation for its role in the strategic bombing of Germany. After World War II, it joined the Air Force Reserve, transitioned to the B‑26 Invader, and became one of the first Reserve units mobilized for the Korean War, earning two more Distinguished Unit Citations for interdiction, close air support, and reconnaissance missions. Over the following decades, the squadron adapted to changing missions—serving in reconnaissance, bombardment, and troop carrier roles—and later became an early Reserve associate unit flying the C‑119 and C‑141, supporting global airlift and major operations such as Operation Just Cause until its inactivation in 2005.

Reactivated in 2012 at Altus Air Force Base, the 730th Air Mobility Training Squadron has become a cornerstone of the 507th Air Refueling Wing, delivering advanced instruction on the C‑17, KC‑135, and KC‑46. As one of Altus’s most critical sources of instructor expertise, the squadron now shapes the next generation of Mobility Air Forces aircrew. Through its professionalism, precision, and unwavering commitment to excellence, the 730th continues to carry forward a legacy of service that directly strengthens global mobility and the nation’s ability to respond “Anywhere, Anytime!”
