The 4th Airlift Squadron (4 AS) is part of the 62d Airlift Wing at McChord Air Force Base, Washington. It operates the C-17 Globemaster III aircraft supporting the United States Air Force global reach mission world wide. – Welcome to the Fighting Fourth! Activated in 1935, the 4th Airlift Squadron is the oldest active airlift squadron in the Air Force. The personnel of the squadron continually pledge and uphold the rich traditions and maintain the highest standards of performance, pride, and esprit de corps that has become associated with their proud heritage.

The C-17 commonly performs strategic airlift missions, transporting troops and cargo throughout the world; additional roles include tactical airlift, medical evacuation and airdrop duties.
