The 62nd Operations Support Squadron is a vital unit at McChord Air Force Base, which is home for 40 C – 17 Globemasters and the Air Force counterpart of Joint Base Lewis – McChord in Washington. The 62 OSS plays a key role in supporting global and local strategic military airlift operations by providing weather forecasting, aircrew flight equipment, airfield operations, intelligence, combat tactics and aircrew training, ensuring that McChord Field’s C – 17 squadrons, the 446th Airlift Wing, and the Western Air Defense Sector operate smoothly and effectively.
