The 62nd Operations Support Squadron (62nd OSS) supports the 62nd Airlift Wing‘s active duty C-17 flying squadrons 24/7. The diverse functions within the 62nd OSS include Weather, Aircrew Flight Equipment, Airfield Operations, Intelligence, Current Operations, Readiness, Aircrew Training and Combat Tactics. The OSS also provides administrative and staff support to the 62nd Operations Group and Wing Commander. They are the Operations Support Squadron, and they enable all the aircrew to fly. The C-17 Globemaster III is a large military transport aircraft. The C-17 commonly performs strategic airlift missions, transporting troops and cargo throughout the world; additional roles include tactical airlift, medical evacuation and airdrop duties.
