Dayton Ohio 162d Attack Squadron

The 162nd Attack Squadron (162 RS) is part of the 178th Wing based at Springfield Air National Guard Base, Springfield, Ohio. They currently operate the MQ-9 Reaper after sunsetting the MQ-1 Predator in November 2017. Prior to this mission, they operated under AETC as a F-16 fighter/training squadron. The 178th/162nd originated from the 362nd FS organized at Hamilton Field, CA in December 1942. The 162nd activated at Cox-Dayton Airport in 1946 as part of the Ohio National Guard. In 1955 the 162nd moved to Springfield, where it operates today. The unit has flown the: P-51, F-84, F-100, A-7, F-16, MQ-1, and MQ-9.
