RAAF Amberley Queensland 36 Sq vintage style military artwork found exclusively at Squadron Posters.
No. 36 Squadron is a highly decorated Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) strategic transport unit. Operating from RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland, it transitioned to flying a modern fleet of eight heavy-lift Boeing C-17 Globemaster IIIs in 2006. This significantly expanded the RAAF’s strategic reach with a payload capacity of 77.16 short tons (154,320 pounds), a 6,213- mile range, and the capability for in-flight refueling. Operating these giant, highly maneuverable transports, the squadron has maintained a relentless operational tempo across both military and humanitarian missions worldwide. Key achievements include heavy armor transportation—such as airlifting a 67.24 short ton (134,480-pound) M1 Abrams tank— and critical munitions deliveries to Kurdish forces in Iraq in 2014. The squadron has also been a cornerstone of regional and global disaster response, providing vital airlift support during the 2011 Queensland floods, the Christchurch earthquake, and the Tōhoku tsunami in Japan. In recognition of its outstanding operational record and high proficiency, No. 36 Squadron has been awarded a record seven Gloucester Cups and received a Meritorious Unit Citation in 2016 for its sustained service in the Middle East.
