Kabul Airlift 816th EAS Art

Kabul Airlift 816th EAS Art

Operation Allies Refuge, aka The Kabul Airlift, was the most audacious airlift in a generation. Against all odds, in only 16 days’ time, C – 17 aircrews from all around the Mobility Air Forces, anchored by the 816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron out of Al Udeid AB, Qatar, and in concert with NATO allies, evacuated over 124,000 American, Afghan, and Allied personnel from a land – locked country in hostile territory half a world away. They did so without regard for the their own personal safety or consideration concerning the normal operation of the aircraft. There are generations of people to come that they made possible… men and women who will walk the Earth in Freedom because of their efforts. They made the difference, and proved once again, for a 2 – week period in the Summer of 2021, why the US Air Force is the best in the world.
