The 727th Air Mobility Squadron (727 AMS) operates aerial port services at Royal Air Force, Mildenhall in the United Kingdom. As Air Mobility Command’s only station in the United Kingdom, it plays a key role in supporting aircraft transiting the country as well as those in the AFRICOM AOR and other actions across northern Europe. Many of its civilian members come from Britain’s Ministry of Defense, a cohesive relationship that strengthens national cooperation and diplomacy.

The C-17 Globemaster III is a large military transport aircraft and was developed for the United States Air Force. The C-17 commonly performs strategic airlift missions, transporting troops and cargo throughout the world; additional roles include tactical airlift, medical evacuation and airdrop duties. Aside from the United States, the C-17 is in service with the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, NATO Heavy Airlift Wing, India, and Kuwait.
