NAS Whidbey Island VP-4, P-8A – Gold version 2 poster art.
Patrol Squadron Four (VP-4) is a U.S. Naval land-based patrol squadron based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, flying the P-8A Poseidon. Patrol Squadron FOUR (VP-4) “Skinny Dragons” have recently made a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move from Hawaii to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (NASWI) in the great state of Washington. Furthermore, VP-4 has transitioned from the P-3C Orion aircraft to the mighty P-8A Poseidon. The primary mission of all VP-4 is Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) and Anti-surface Warfare (ASuW), Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR). NASWI is surrounded by lush evergreen forest and is very close to the iconic deception pass. Mt. Baker is a large presence from the base and from deception pass as well.
