NAS Fallon NAWDC STRIKE TOPGUN Art
Strike is one of the units at the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC) along with TOPGUN and others. STRIKE is responsible for training operational Fleet Squadrons and is one of the last detachments for fleet squadrons prior to going on deployment. STRIKE operates the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet as well as the F-16 A/D Fighting Falcon. It is the only Naval base that uses the F- 6 in order to enhance training. It is in Fallon Nevada (the self – claimed “Oasis of Nevada”) about an hour from Reno Nevada.

The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engine supersonic, all-weather carrier-capable multirole combat jet, designed as both a naval fighter and attack aircraft (hence the F/A designation). Designed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) and Northrop, the F/A-18 was derived from the latter’s YF-17 in the 1970s. The Hornet is also used by the air forces of several other nations.
