The 5th Air Support Operations Squadron (5 ASOS) provides Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Special Warfare capabilities in support of two U.S. Army Stryker Brigade Combat Teams and the joint warfighter. Additionally, the squadron leverages multi-domain operations to employ precision strike, command and control, and the synchronization of joint fires across the full spectrum of joint military operations. The unit is operationally comprised of Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance Liaison Officers (ISRLOs), and combat mission support specialists such as vehicle maintenance; power production; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; logistics; and cyber technicians.

The 5 ASOS is operationally aligned under the 1st Air Support Operations Group to integrate, synchronize, and employ the full range of air & land component capabilities into joint war fighting strategies, plans, training and operations. Additionally, the squadron is strategically vital in achieving the 354th Fighter Wing’s mission to deploy, train, and project airpower in support of worldwide combat operations.
