Originally founded in 1948, just one year after the signing of the National Defense Act of 1947, Detachment 035 is one of the oldest Detachment’s in the Nation. Since then, the “Flying Bulldogs” have gone on to set precedence throughout the AFROTC program; having been the first unit in our Nation to not only accept female undergraduates, but also accept crosstown applicants from other local community colleges. Throughout the years, Detachment 035 has gone on to receive numerous national awards for its exceptional program, most recently, receiving the “High Flight” and “Right of Line” awards for best Detachment in the Southwest Region and best Overall Detachment in the Nation. Detachment 035’s legacy of excellence will continue on as they provide top-quality leaders for the United States Air Force.
