The 628th Air Base Wing (628 ABW) serves as the host unit of Joint Base Charleston. The 628 ABW provides installation support to more than 60 DOD and federal agencies serving more than 90,000 Airmen, Sailors, Marines, Soldiers, Coast Guardsmen, civilians, dependents and retirees as well as providing mission-ready expeditionary Airmen to combatant commanders in support of joint and combined operations. The wing maintains $7.5 billion of physical infrastructure spanning 3 seaports, 2 airfields, 39 miles of rail, and 22 miles of coastline across 23,000 noncontiguous acres. The mission areas of supported commands include airlift & airdrop operations (via the C-17A), Naval nuclear power operator training (using nuclear submarine training platforms), deployable logistics, naval munitions, multi-mission warfighter support, and interagency cooperation. The motto of the wing is “Famulus Omnis – Serving All”.
