The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard has led the way as representatives of all Airmen serving around the world. The men and women of the Air Force Honor Guard represent every member, both past and present, of the Air Force. Now, as one of the Air Force’s oldest organizations, the Honor Guard continues to serve the Chief of Staff of the Air Force as the face of the Air Force to the American and global public. Airmen of every enlisted rank, and both company and field grade officers, volunteer and are competitively selected from their peers in more than 200 different Air Force career fields to serve in the Honor Guard, making the Honor Guard the standard for discipline and military professionalism.

Location: New Orleans, LAMichael spent his childhood reading such literary classics as “Sgt. Rock” and “Enemy Ace”, spending hours copying the illustrations. He later received a B.A. in Art and still uses his comic book influence along with his love of history and aviation in his work.

The Honor Guard’s primary mission is to represent the U.S. Air Force at all public and official ceremonies within the National Capital Region and abroad when directed by the Military District of Washington, Headquarters U.S. Air Force or subordinate commands. Ceremonies include those for visiting dignitaries and military officials, funerals for deceased Air Force personnel and their dependents, wreath-laying ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery, White House arrival ceremonies, receptions, and other state and military occasions which comprise the Honor Guards of all six armed services (U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force and U.S. Coast Guard). A posting to this unit is considered a special duty assignment, meaning that Air Force members worldwide from all career fields can apply. If selected, they are withdrawn from their career fields and reassigned to Bolling AFB for a standard tour of duty (normally 3 years; basic trainees are assigned for 2).
