A USAF Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Technician (AFSC 2A6X2) maintains, inspects, and repairs the powered and non-powered equipment needed to service aircraft. Often called “the last true mechanics,” they handle electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and cooling systems so jets can be safely prepped for flight. When planes aren’t in the air, they’re constantly receiving maintenance and being prepared for flight. Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) specialists Technicians are responsible for maintaining and repairing the equipment that supplies electricity, hydraulic pressure and air pressure to our planes. AGE specialists play an essential role ensuring our planes are ready for flight. From inspecting and troubleshooting to making hands-on repairs and maintaining proper standards, these professionals make sure our planes are always ready for flight.
It’s important to note that depending on the specific role, a typical day may also include different responsibilities. Aerospace Ground Equipment specialists are responsible for maintaining, repairing, and operating the ground support equipment used to service aircraft, ensuring that these equipment are in good working order and properly maintained and stored. They use specialized tools and equipment to perform their work, collaborating with other maintenance personnel to ensure that aircraft are ready for flight operations.
