The 9th Air Support Operations Squadron (9th ASOS), stationed at Fort Cavazos, Texas, plays a critical role in integrating close air support into combat operations for the 1st Cavalry Division. As part of the 93rd Air Ground Operations Wing, the squadron’s Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) members deploy worldwide, embedding with Army units to direct precision air and space power on the battlefield. These Battlefield Airmen often engage in direct combat, operating in some of the most demanding environments to ensure mission success. Utilizing Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs), the 9th ASOS delivers unmatched coordination between ground forces and air assets, ensuring rapid and effective firepower when and where it’s needed most. As the most deployed unit in the Combat Air Forces, the 9th ASOS continues to set the standard for battlefield integration, agility, and precision.

Fort Cavazos, located in central Texas, is one of the largest and most vital Army installations in the United States.
