AirMail Golden Gate Stamp Poster Art

AirMail Golden Gate Stamp Poster Art.

This is a stunning digitally enhanced reproduction (Poster) print of AirMail Golden Gate Stamp Stamp Poster Art. Government operated airmail lines were well established by 1925. But to many, it seemed advantageous to let private enterprise take over. In an effort to promote civil aviation, an Act of Congress set the rate of airmail matter on a contract basis. The Post Office Department issued a new 25-cent airmail stamp on July 30, 1947. It is one of three stamps in a series designed to meet new international airmail rates established November 1, 1946. This issue fulfilled the rate on contract airmail, which was 10¢ per ounce up to 1,000 miles. This stamp, issued in San Francisco, was intended for airmail bound for the Pacific, Asia, and parts of Africa. The stamp features a Boeing B377 Stratocruiser in flight above the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge.

This print is not a postage stamp for mail usage, but rather a large poster size wall art reproduction print to honor the history of aviation. Looks stunning in any home or office!
