Celebrating over 80 years in service, the 1st Communications Maintenance Squadron is located at Kapaun Air Station, Germany. Their mission is to provide DoD forces with specialized communications installation, maintenance, emergency restoration and electromagnetic spectrum operations monitoring to ensure sustainable and versatile command, control, communications, computer, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance throughout United States European Command. The unit is United States Air Forces in Europe’s only specialized communications maintenance support, responsible for installing and maintaining systems valued at $10 billion across the command’s 104 – country Area of Responsibility.
