The 8th Tactical Fighter Wing stationed at Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base (Ubon RTAFB) was the first US Air Force fighter wing sent to Southeast Asia to execute air missions over Vietnam during the Vietnam War. They flew the F-4C, D and E Phantom II’s on various missions from CAP to CAS. Ubon RTAFB is located in the middle of Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand and is currently an active RTAFB as well as an international airport. The 8th TFW, also known as was the “WOLF PACK.”
