JB McChord C-17, 7th AS Heritage Poster

JB McChord C-17, 7th AS Heritage Poster art.

The 7th Airlift Squadron is part of the 62 Airlift Wing at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.  It operates the venerable C-17A Globemaster III aircraft, delivering Precision Global Airlift to U.S. Forces and her Allies worldwide. Historically, the 7th was McChord’s first C-17 squadron.  Notably, the 7AS landed the first C-17 on a patch of frozen sea water at McMurdo Station in Antarctica , and landed the first C-17 in North Korea.  Known as the “Swords”, and infamous for its Mt. Rainier tail flash in green, the 7AS’s motto is “Volens et Potens” – Willing and Able!

The C-17 commonly performs strategic airlift missions, transporting troops and cargo throughout the world; additional roles include tactical airlift, medical evacuation and airdrop duties.
