The 65th Airlift Squadron (65 AS) is part of the 15th Wing at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam Hawaii. It operates the C-40B and provides global airlift for the Commander, US Pacific Command; Commander, Pacific Air Forces; Commander, United States Forces Korea; & other HQ USAF taskings. Responsible for direct coordination with US embassies & foreign governments worldwide. Uniquely responsible to flag officer direction. Aircrews operate outside normal military command/control channels.

Lineage of the 65th Airlift Squadron: Constituted 65 Troop Carrier Squadron on 7 Dec 1942. Activated on 12 Dec 1942. Inactivated on 27 Jan 1946. Activated in the Reserve on 9 Aug 1947. Redesignated 65 Troop Carrier Squadron, Medium on 27 Jun 1949. Ordered to active service on 1 Apr 1951. Inactivated on 1 Jan 1953. Activated in the Reserve on 1 Jan 1953. Ordered to active service on 28 Oct 1962. Relieved from active duty on 28 Nov 1962. Discontinued, and inactivated, on 1 Jul 1966. Redesignated 65 Airlift Squadron on 20 Feb 1992. Activated on 10 Mar 1992.
Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam (JBPHH) is a United States military base on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. It is an amalgamation of the United States Air Force’s Hickam Air Force Base and the United States Navy’s Naval Station Pearl Harbor, which were merged in 2010. Pearl Harbor is 8 miles from Honolulu. Naval Station Pearl Harbor provides berthing and shore side support to surface ships and submarines, as well as maintenance and training. Pearl Harbor can accommodate the largest ships in the fleet, to include dry dock services, and is now home to over 160 commands. Housing, personnel, and family support are also provided and are an integral part of the shore side activities, which encompasses both permanent and transient personnel. Because Pearl Harbor is the only intermediate maintenance facility for submarines in the Middle Pacific, it serves as host to a large number of visiting submariners.
