Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 450 at Montana State University (MSU) hosts the 450th AFROTC Cadet Wing and is responsible for developing cadets pursuing a commission in the United States Air Force. AFROTC Detachment 450 was officially activated on 1 August 1952.  Today Det 450 at MSU continues to be dedicated for providing the Air Force with quality leaders and officers. Detachment 450 at Montana State University is the only Air Force ROTC detachment in the state of Montana. They produce outstanding Air Force officers to lead our fellow Airmen in the United States Air Force. Although academics are every cadet’s first priority, the cadets of Det 450 excel in other areas as well. In the 2019-2020 academic year when Det 450 was ranked #10 of 34 universities in the Northwest region and #4 of 145 detachments regionally with an average cadet fitness score of 95.5! Their cadets receive awards and recognition for making the dean’s and president’s lists. Det 450 holds high academic standards for our cadets to be competitive for scholarships and field training enrollment allocations.
