The 31st Fighter Wing is the (U.S.) host unit of Aviano Air Base, Italy. It has two F-16 Fighting Falcon Units, the 510th Fighter Squadron “Buzzards” and the 555th FS “Triple Nickel”. It is also home to the 56th Rescue Squadron, which flies HH – 60 Pave Hawks (“Jolly Green”), and the 57th RS, “Guardian Angel” Pararescue.
