B-17 Flying Fortress Keep em Flying 64th BS vintage style military aviation travel poster art by – Squadron Posters!
The 64th Bombardment Squadron was a vital force in the Allied campaign across the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. Flying the B-25 Mitchell, this distinguished unit specialized in medium-range bombing missions that struck deep into enemy territory—disrupting supply chains, targeting key infrastructure, and supporting the Allied advance in one of the most challenging operational environments of the war. As part of the 43rd Bombardment Group, the 64th earned a reputation for tactical precision, resilience, and relentless dedication. Their service helped turn the tide in a theater often overshadowed by more publicized fronts, but no less critical to ultimate victory. This artwork is a tribute to the aircrews and maintainers of the 64th Bombardment Squadron—heroes of a forgotten front who helped secure freedom half a world away.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is an American four-engined heavy bomber aircraft developed in the 1930s for the United States Army Air Corps. A fast and high-flying bomber, the B-17 dropped more bombs than any other aircraft during World War II, used primarily in the European Theater of Operations. It is the third-most produced bomber of all time, behind the American four-engined Consolidated B-24 Liberator and the German multirole, twin-engined Junkers Ju 88. The B-17 was also employed in transport, anti-submarine warfare, and search and rescue roles. Check out this stunning B-17 Flying Fortress Keep em Flying 64th BS Art by – Squadron Posters!
