This poster is dedicated to the Submariners who served on the USS Montana. Montana (SSN – 794) is a Virginia – class attack submarine of the United States Navy. She honors the U.S. State of Montana. Launched in 2021 and commissioned in 2022, USS Montana is the third Block IV Virginia Class Submarine. USS Montana is a member of Submarine Squadron One, homeported at Naval Submarine Base Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The most versatile and lethal attack submarine in the Pacific Fleet, USS Montana calls upon her Montana State history to invoke the infamous 3 – 7 – 77 designation of the Vigilantes of Montana. When invoked by the crew of the USS Montana, an enemy ship surely knows it’s time has come to an end!

Naval Station Pearl Harbor is a United States naval base on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. In 2010, as part of the recommendations of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) commission, the naval station was consolidated with the United States Air Force’s Hickam Air Force Base to form Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam. Since 1940, Pearl Harbor has been the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet.
Naval Station Pearl Harbor provides berthing and shore side support to surface ships and submarines, as well as maintenance and training. Pearl Harbor can accommodate the largest ships in the fleet, to include dry dock services, and is now home to over 160 commands. Housing, personnel, and family support are also provided and are an integral part of the shore side activities, which encompasses both permanent and transient personnel. Because Pearl Harbor is the only intermediate maintenance facility for submarines in the Middle Pacific, it serves as host to a large number of visiting submariners.
