Scott AFB 458th Airlift Squadron C-21

Scott AFB 458th Airlift Squadron C-21 poster art.

Scott AFB hosts the C-21 schoolhouse, and is home to the 458th Airlift Squadron, which provides VIP transport. The Air Mobility Command Headquarters, also located at Scott AFB provides worldwide cargo and passenger delivery and aeromedical evacuation. The command also transports humanitarian supplies to hurricane, flood and earthquake victims both at home and around the world. AMC is the primary means through which the Air Force achieves its vast global reach, and the 458th is a vital part of that mission. Scott Air Force Base is a U.S. Air Force base in Illinois, near Belleville. The base is operated by the 375th Air Mobility Wing (375 AMW) and is also home to the Air Force Reserve Command’s 932d Airlift Wing (932 AW) and the Illinois Air National Guard’s 126th Air Refueling Wing (126 ARW), the latter two units being operationally gained by the US Air Force’s Air Mobility Command (AMC). The C-21 is a twin turbofan-engine aircraft used for cargo and passenger airlift. The aircraft is the military version of the Lear Jet 35A business jet. In addition to providing cargo and passenger airlift, the aircraft is capable of transporting one litter or five ambulatory patients during aeromedical evacuations.
