Penobscot Island Air is a small Part 135 Air-taxi service that provides transportation to the Islands of Penobscot Bay, Maine, and beyond. We primarily operate Cessna 206 aircraft, due to the short and unimproved (grass and gravel) runways on the islands. The Islands are communities, each having their own characteristics, but each enjoying the alternative transportation to the ferry, or charter boat. Some of the Islands have great ferry schedules (every hour) and others do not receive service at all.

We transport anything that fits, including the US Mail, FEDEX, UPS, dogs, groceries, people, equipment/parts (many lobster fishermen live on the islands). Entire houses have been constructed by the lumber flown in. The owner is one of the most thoughtful and well liked people in our small community. He is very generous with his time, effort and money for the various communities. In addition, we also fly “medevac” operations off of these islands for non-critical emergencies.
