Norfolk Virginia USS Scranton (SSN-756) Silver poster art.
This vintage style military naval travel poster “Norfolk Virginia USS Scranton (SSN-756) Silver” is dedicated to all the enlisted personnel who served on the USS Scranton. USS Scranton (SSN-756), a Los Angeles-class submarine, is the second ship of the United States Navy to be named for Scranton, Pennsylvania. She was launched on 3 July 1989 and was the first submarine at Newport News to be built via “modular construction”. No keel was laid. In this method, the ship was almost fully built out in individual hull sections. In January 2006, Scrantonsuccessfully demonstrated “homing and docking of an AN/BLQ-11 Long-Term Mine Reconnaissance System (LMRS) unmanned undersea vehicle (UUV) system” during at-sea testing. NS Norfolk, also known as the Norfolk Naval Base, occupies about four miles of waterfront space and seven miles of pier and wharf space of the Hampton Roads peninsula known as “Sewell’s Point” and is the world’s largest naval station.
