The 214th Attack Group (214 ATKG) is a geographically separated unit of the Arizona Air National Guard‘s 162d Fighter Wing (162 FW), stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, with an additional operating location at Libby Army Airfield at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. The 214 ATKG has three missions: It flies the MQ-9 Reaper via satellite from ground control stations in Tucson supporting US Air Force kinetic operations. 214 Det 1 operates a Launch and Recovery Element at Fort Huachuca, AZ. It also operates the RC-26 supporting counter-drug and ISR missions. Davis-Monthan AFB is located in Tucson, AZ in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. Arizona Air Guardsmen fly 24/7 operations saving American lives through the vital information they provide to troops on the ground.

The 214th Attack Group patch displays a phoenix representing the state capital, and searing flames analogous with the searing heart of the Sonoran Desert.  The Attack Squadron patch presents a Desert Bighorn Ram, an animal indigenous to the unit’s home area of operations which can quickly climb steep rocky terrain, symbolizes tenacity, strength, speed, and agility.  The ram’s keen-sighted eye embodies the unit’s mission of detecting enemy combatants.  The copper horns allude to the rich copper mining history in the unit’s home area of operations, Arizona.
