The 22d Operations Support Squadron (22 OSS) is part of the 22d Air Refueling Wing at McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas. The base operates the KC-135 and conducts air refueling and airlift operations worldwide. The OSS  “Mighty Eagles” provide airfield, air traffic control, intelligence, weather, aircrew communications, scheduling, planning and combat tactics support. McConnell is located about 6 miles south of Wichita and is home to the largest air refueling wing in the Air Force. McConnell Air Force Base was named in honor of the brothers Fred and Thomas McConnell of Wichita, who had both been Air Force pilots and veterans of World War II. It is the home of Air Mobility Command’s 22d Air Refueling Wing (22 ARW), Air Force Reserve Command’s 931st Air Refueling Wing (931 ARW), and the Kansas Air National Guard’s 184th Intelligence Wing (184 IW).
