Langley AFB 94th Fighter Squadron “Hat In The Ring”

Langley AFB 94th Fighter Squadron “Hat In The Ring” Heritage Art featuring an F-22 and a SPAD.

The 94th Fighter Squadron is part of the 1st Fighter Wing based out of Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. Established in 1917, it is one of the most decorated fighter squadrons in America’s history. Under the command of Lafayette Escadrille ace, Raoul Lufbery, the 94th threw America’s “hat in the ring” as the first American unit at the front during World War I. The 94th is credited with 70 aerial victories during WWI, including 26 kills from famous “Ace of aces” Eddie Rickenbacker. Having flown Nieuport 28 and SPAD XIII into combat, the 94th was nicknamed the “SPADs”. Today, the 94th FS continues the legacy of aerial domination in the F-22 Raptor. The squadron recently was the first F-22 squadron to employ Small Diameter Bombs in combat while eliminating ISIS. The squadron is proud of its history and always ready to throw its “Hat in the Ring” of the fight!
