The 188th Wing flew the F-4C Phantom II from 1979-1988. The Arkansas Air National Guard’s 188th Wing is based at Ebbing Air National Guard Base in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Currently the 188th flies the Remotely Piloted Aircraft (MQ-9 Reaper) The 188th Wing is comprised of dedicated, loyal and highly trained Airmen who take immense pride in fulfilling their roles and obligations as National Guardsmen and Airmen. The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is a tandem two-seat, twin-engine, all-weather, long-range supersonic jet interceptor and fighter-bomber originally developed for the United States Navy by McDonnell Aircraft. The Phantom is a large fighter with a top speed of over Mach 2.2. It can carry more than 18,000 pounds (8,400 kg) of weapons on nine external hardpoints, including air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground missiles, and various bombs.
