Al Dhafra AB UAE 75th FS Operation Spartan Shield vintage style military aviation travel poster art by – Squadron Posters!
Operation Spartan Shield (OSS) is a United States Central Command operation in the Middle East. OSS is commanded by United States Army Central and includes units from all service branches. Task Force Spartan is the U.S. Army component of OSS. The 408th Contracting Support Brigade supports contracting requirements for Operation Spartan Shield, described in Army Lawyer as “USARCENT’s steady state operation to Build Partner Capacity (that is, to conduct Capacity building) in the Middle East.”
The 75th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron (EFS) “Tiger Sharks” are part of the 23rd Fighter Group based at Moody AFB in Valdosta, GA. As part of the 23rd FG, we have a proud heritage tracing back to the All Volunteer Group (AVG) “Flying Tigers” of WWII. We proudly fly the A – 10C Warthogs with the distinctive “shark mouth” paint scheme on the front. We traditionally conduct Close Air Support (CAS) missions, although that mission has expanded to include Air Operations for Maritime Surface Warfare (AOMSW), Surface Combat Air Patrol ( SuCAP ), and others. In March 2023 the 75 th was tasked to deploy to Al Dhafra air base in the UAE in support of both Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) and Operation Spartan Shield (OSS). That deployment is ongoing, but expected to come to a close in October 2023.
