The 127th Cyberspace Operations Squadron (127 COS) is part of the 184th Intelligence Wing in the Kansas Air National Guard located at McConnell Air Force Base. They operate the “Cyber Vulnerability Assessment/Hunter weapon system” to execute missions as a Cyber Protection Team for United States Cyber Command. McConnell AFB is in Wichita, Kansas, the Air Capital of the World. Their squadron motto is “Venari Hostes”, which in Latin means, “Hunting the Enemy”. The 127th has a long heritage (dating back to 1941) when it started as the 127th Observation Squadron before mobilizing in World War II. The 127th has changed missions over the years, from a Fighter Squadron, to a Bomb Squadron, to an Aerial Refueling Squadron, to a Command and Control Squadron, to the present days Cyberspace Operations Squadron. The 127th has flown many aircraft over the decades, including the F-51, F-84, F-86, F-100, F-105, F-4, F-16, B-1B, and KC-135.
