The Air Force Technical Applications Center at Patrick Air Force Base (now known as Patrick Space Force Base), Florida, is a wing-equivalent center that provides national authorities quality technical measurements to monitor nuclear treaty compliance, and develops advanced proliferation detection technologies to preserve our nation’s security. The center comprises two groups, seven squadrons, 10 detachments, and six operating locations to monitor nuclear event detection and compliance.Â
AFTAC operates and maintains the U.S. Atomic Energy Detection System, using scientific means to obtain and evaluate technical data on nuclear treaty monitoring and compliance to signatory foreign government nations.
AFTAC 21st Surveillance Squadron Detachment 1. This piece pays tribute to the history and legacy of the Det 1 mission to detect Nuclear Detonations anywhere in the world. Since 1947, the U.S. Air Force has flown to collect nuclear debris released into the atmosphere. The legendary WC-135R flies to continue this mission well into the 21st Century. The artwork captures the hard work and sacrifice of the supporting Airmen who operate and maintain the contained research equipment. It is a fitting adornment for all who admire dedication to dissuade the use of Nuclear Weapons. – Check out this stunning Omaha Nebraska AFTAC Det 1 art by – Squadron Posters!
