The 349th Bomb Squadron (349th BS) was a B-17 Flying Fortress squadron of World War II. This nose art depicts “Reluctant Dragon” (42-38133).

The Reluctant Dragon took sever damage over Berlin on 8 May 1944. The Reluctant Dragon was again battle damaged on 30 Nov. 1944 over Berlin. The damage received damage was from flack. Aboard the B-17 were Fred Towle, Ed Lohmeir, Rimaldo Zona, Barry Grubb, John Sikich, Bill Panoski, George Doult, Ralph Ullman, and Bill Popolorum. The original nose art design was done by S/Sgt Ernest Lovato. “Ernie” was also the artist for Squawkin Hawk, Shalaylee, Lady Luck, Billy Boy, Reluctant Dragon, The Little Skipper, Bigassbird, Horny & Horny II.
