The HSC-3 Logistics detachment operates the MH-60S out of Naval Station North Island, California in support of the Southern California Tactics and Training Range located on San Clemente Island. The squadron has the unique mission of weapon and target launch and recovery as well as secondary duties of aerial firefighting for San Clemente Island and Southern California. (see more below)

The HSC-3 Logistics detachment operates the MH-60S out of Naval Station North Island, California in support of the Southern California Tactics and Training Range located on San Clemente Island. The squadron has the unique mission of weapon and target launch and recovery as well as additional duties of aerial fire fighting for San Clemente Island and Southern California. The detachment traces it’s history back to the H-3 flying for 36 years with the “High Rollers” of HSC-85. In 2009 the detachment transferred to the “Blackjacks” of HSC-21 flying the MH-60S. In 2013 the detachment moved to it’s current home with the “Merlins” of HSC-3.
