The 2nd Battalion 2nd Aviation Regiment (Also known as the “Wild Cards”) is part of the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade in the 2nd Infantry Division. It has the distinction of being the only Assault Helicopter Battalion on the Korean Peninsula as well as being the only Army Aviation unit that bases out of the city of Seoul. The unit’s mission is provide Air Assault, Air Movement, and general aviation support operations to the ground forces serving here in Korea, to include Republic of Korea partner forces.

2nd Battalion 2nd Aviation Regiment, located in Seoul Korea, is the premiere Assault Helicopter unit of the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade. The “Wild Cards” work year round to ensure that they are ready to fulfill their mission and take care of each other. The mission of the 2nd Battalion (Assault), 2nd Aviation Regiment, is to, on order, transition to war and conduct air assault and general support aviation operations in support of the 2nd Infantry Division and Combined Forces Command. – “Air Assault!”
The Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk is a four-blade, twin-engine, medium-lift utility helicopter manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft. Named after the Native American war leader Black Hawk, the UH-60A entered service with the U.S. Army in 1979, to replace the Bell UH-1 Iroquois as the Army’s tactical transport helicopter.
