The 4th Fighter Squadron (4 FS) is part of the 388th Fighter Wing at Hill AFB, UT. They operate the F-35A Lightning II and are the 2nd Operational Combat Air Force squadron. The 4th Fighter Squadron is transitioning to the F-35 Lightning II aircraft which replaced the unit’s F-16 Fighting Falcons which conducted air superiority, strike, and close air support missions until August 2017. The “Fuujins” are the 2nd Operational Combat Squadron in the US Air Force. The 4 FS has a rich heritage flying aircraft from World War II until present day. Some of the aircraft flown include the P-40 Warhawk, P-51 Mustang, F-86D Sabre Interceptor, F-102 Delta Dagger, F-4 Phantom, and the F-16 Fighting Falcon. As the first ever combat squadron in the F-16 the Fuujins enjoyed 37 years of combat aviation employing the mighty Viper. The storied history of the Fuujins will no doubt continue as the squadron moves into 5th Generation Fighter Aircraft. – “FUUJINS ROCK”!
