Whidbey Island Naval Air Station is about 30 miles north of Seattle, and lies between the Olympic Peninsula and the I-5 corridor of western Washington State. The island forms the northern boundary of Puget Sound and is home to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Whidbey Island is home to 58,211 residents (according to the 2000 census). An estimated 29,000 of Whidbey Island residents live in rural locations. Artwork features a “P-8 Poseidon aircraft”, a “Los Angeles-class submarine”, as well as “Deception Pass Bridge” that connects Whidbey Island to Fidalgo Island and is a a commonly photographed landmark of the Puget Sound region.
