446th Organizational Maintenance Squadron Nose Art

446th Organizational Maintenance Squadron

The 446th Organizational Maintenance Squadron was the original on-plane maintenance core of the 446th Airlift Wing from 1976 until its redesignation in 1990. Over time, it expanded its scope, earning multiple unit awards and helping to maintain operational readiness for the Wing’s C‑17 fleet. Its lineage continues through today’s Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. As the Organizational Maintenance Squadron, the unit was responsible for on-aircraft maintenance, including: Scheduled inspections, minor component replacements, immediate post-flight servicing of the C‑17 Globemaster III transport aircraft. These tasks ensured the 446th Operations Group’s fleet was mission-ready for global airlift operations.
