176th Fighter Squadron – F-16

176th Fighter Squadron – F-16 poster art.

The 176th Fighter Squadron (176 FS) is part of the 115th FW in Madison Wisconsin.  The 176th FS operates F-16’s out of Truax Airport. One of the unique features of Madison is their Beautiful Capitol building, located at the center of an isthmus (depicted in this poster art). Their squadron’s name is “RAGGI-DIEASSM-ILITIA” and their also known as the “Badger Air Militia”It is widely held that the term “Raggidieassmilitia” is slang from the way some units were given equipment used by others in the 1970’s, and were often operating on a shoestring budget. Most were Guard and Reserve units, however a few “regular” units also used this term.
