Yokota AB 36th AS

Yokota AB 36th AS poster art.

The 36th Airlift Squadron (36 AS) is US Indo-Pacific Command’s sole tactical airlift squadron and is part of the 374th Operations Group, 374th Airlift Wing. Based out of Yokota Air Base, just outside of Tokyo and in the shadow of Mount Fuji, the 36th proudly operates a fleet of C-130J Super Herks and executes missions through out the Pacific area of operations. The squadron’s pilots and loadmasters are proudly known as “Eagle Airlifters”.

The 1st Airborne Brigade, also known as the Narashino Airborne Brigade is stationed in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, Camp Narashino in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture. The Brigade serves as Japan’s elite paratrooper unit meant to counter against either guerrillas or enemy special forces units.

This artwork depicts the historic U.S-Japan Airborne Operation “exercise Airborne 21”. The 374th Airlift Wing supported the JGSDF, 1st Airborne Brigade, for the largest static-line personnel jump and cargo drop between the U.S. and Japan, for exercise Airborne 21 (March 9 to 11, 2021).
