AFROTC DET 190 Art by – Squadron Posters!
In 1867, the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC) was established due to the Morrill Land Grant of 1862. Since then, UIUC has produced several thousands of officers. During the 1920s, the Army – Air Corps selected UIUC to begin an Air – focused ROTC detachment. Once the Air Force was formally established in 1949, AFROTC Detachment 190 was founded. During Detachment 190’s operations, we were recognized as the “The West Point of the West,” by General John J. Pershing. To this day, we continue to achieve excellence in producing some of the nation’s finest officers. Our mission is to “Provide Detachment 190 cadets with a world – class pre – commissioning experience, combining superb mentoring, education, and training for the Air Force profession of arms.”
