At Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas, the 62nd Airlift Squadron is part of the 314th Airlift Wing. It was formed in 1942 as the 62nd Troop Carrier Squadron and first deployed to Morocco in 1943, remaining in Europe until it was decommissioned in 1946. Three years later, it was reactivated and deployed to Japan during the Korean War. The unit was renamed the 62nd Tactical Airlift Squadron in 1967, and the 62nd Airlift Squadron in 1991. It operates Lockheed C-130J Super Hercules aircraft and provides advanced combat airlift and airdrop training to pilots, copilots, and loadmasters.
