The 961st Airborne Air Control Squadron provides unmatched battle management and command and control throughout the Indo-Pacific region. The squadron’s E-3B/C/G AWACS aircraft support a variety of exercises, higher headquarters missions, and fighter training events each year from their home on Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. The squadron’s unofficial motto of: “giddy up” embodies the flexible, dynamic, and high-intensity ethos of the organization.

Kadena Air Base is a United States Air Force base in the towns of Kadena and Chatan and the city of Okinawa, in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. It is often referred to as the “Keystone of the Pacific”.
The E-3 Sentry is an American airborne early warning and control (AEW&C). E-3s are commonly known as AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System). Derived from the 707, it provides all-weather surveillance, command, control, and communications, and is used by the United States Air Force, NATO, Royal Air Force, French Air and Space Force, and Royal Saudi Air Force. The E-3 is distinguished by the distinctive rotating radar dome (rotodome) above the fuselage.
