The 63d Fighter Squadron (63 FS) is part of the United States Air Force′s 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. On 1 August 2016, the squadron reactivated with a new mission to train US and Partner F-35 pilots in the F-35 Lightning II. With an operational history extending back to World War II, it had most recently operated F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft prior to its reactivation as a F-35A squadron. The 63d Fighter Squadron is one of the oldest fighter squadrons in the Air Force, and has had many notable aircraft assigned to it. The squadron goes by the name ”Panthers” and their war cry is “Prowl the Jungle!” (see more below)
