The 49th Component Maintenance Squadron (49 CMS) is one of five squadrons under the 49th Maintenance Group, which resides under the 49th Wing at Holloman AFB, New Mexico. The squadron is comprised of three separate flights; Propulsion, Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory, and Accessories. Each of the flights support the F-16 pilot training mission, which is the largest F-16 Field Training Unit in the world. Holloman is located just 6 miles west of Alamogordo,NM and is just over an hour from El Paso, Texas. The squadron is new to the Air Force, which was established in October of 2018. The squadron name is the “T-Hawks” which is named after New Mexico’s state insect the Tarantula Hawk.
