USS Lake Champlain (CG-57), commissioned August 12th, 1988, is a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser assigned to the Carrier Strike Group One (CSG-1), home ported in San Diego, CA. It is the third ship to be named Lake Champlain, in honor of Battle of Lake Champlain, which took place during the War of 1812. At any given time is home to over 30 officers and 300 sailors conducting operations at sea around the world. USS Lake Champlain serves as the strike group Air and Missile Defense Commander, conducting area air defense and power projection from the sea. Motto: “Ingenuity Daring Discipline”.
