Nellis AFB 29th Weapons Squadron

Nellis AFB 29th Weapons Squadron poster art.

The 29th Weapons Squadron (29th WPS) is a geographically separated unit residing at Little Rock Air Force Base, AR, under the USAF Weapons School, Nellis AFB, Nevada. The squadron provides graduate-level instruction for C-130J and C-130H pilots and navigators running 2 courses per year. The course is comprised of 1 academic and 4 flying phases, which begin in Arkansas, and culminate in Colorado and Nevada. Graduates are awarded the USAF Weapons School Graduate patch, a historic symbol of expertise and skill. The Squadron aircraft call sign was “Gnarl” in 2014 but has since been changed to “Outlaw”.

The purpose of the 29th WPS is to produce graduate-level instruction in weapons and tactics employment for the C-130 community. It accomplishes this with six-month long training courses, two of which take place every year. These courses provide selected pilots and navigators with what is among the most advanced training in weapons and tactics employment in the world.
